Clancy, that's the thing I've not gotten a cat code, which I've read about in relation to the O2 on the forum and throughout the internet) and with this second full diagnostic I got done today, I'm only dealing with the O2s(bank 1 and 2, sensors 1) and a new code all together (18014 Rough Road/Torque ABS malfunction).
What's getting me now is, I've paid in total $235($70 of which is going towards the repair) to diagnose an issue that was apparent in the emissions test and every basic diagnostic tool have given me and I still have another 2 codes from my fail report that only Audi seems to see as a problem, but I'm thinking because I gave Audi my emissions fail report and they didn't find anything else wrong, like the unplugged temp control sensor, or the ABS malfunction, that they just relayed the codes into repair cost for the vacuum line from the fail report, without actually testing it or the new shop(despite saying they had the software) lied. Being cheated is one of the hardest things to swallow, when you're still looking at a $600 repair. I really do wish I could attempt the repair myself, but I lack the tools and resources to do that..as well as know how, but that's what the internet is for.
Before I go, I just have a few more questions. Bank 1, sensor 1 and Bank 2, sensor 1, are these the same parts just in different locations? Also, can you recommend a brand or place to purchase them for a fair price(more reasonable than the $187 my shop wants to buy them at)?
I'm seeing sensors online that say 4 wire, 3 wire, and I see some that look like they need to be put together.

Standing at the bumper looking toward windshield left side is bank one. There are a couple of nice write ups on here for changing the front O2 sensors and rears. Includes showing the boxes with part numbers for the sensors. Then you can search by those part numbers for the best prices. You can get sensors with the exact OEM connections or for a bit less you can get generic ones that you need to attach the ends. Spend some time doing searches for these write ups. I used to have them bookmarked but no more, sorry. Or, maybe someone else will provide links.

I would be interested if anyone knows of any realtively cheap universals i can splice in for my fronts .. at 400,000km I guess I could throw in a couple.
Universal O2 sensors are Bosch part number 15733 -- as far as I can tell they are identical to the Audi sensors except for the connector. The aftermarket Bosch sensors come with an easy-to-use and well-designed connector that can be spliced into the car's wiring harness. I have installed two of these O2 sensors with the result that my check engine light has stopped coming on. Amazon.com seems to have the best prices.
