Default Engine Swap??

I have an 2001 2.8 Quattro. My question is is there any other engines I change switch to like 1.8t or something better than this engine and I cannot sell my car or what not I just want to know my options and see.

It all depends on how technical you are and how much time and effort you want to put into the swap! Anything is possible if you have the time money and knowledge to do it :-)

Easiest is to swap another natural aspirated v6 in, flash the ECU and go... But if you want to have fun find a 2.7t and swap it in and spend the time doing the required wiring etc.... Easiest would be to find an ECU for your model car that had the engine and trans you are going to swap In so that the programing is done. Find the required wiring harness(es) and then get it all to fit and work.

It won't be a simple drop it in and drive off job, but you could have a great car when your done if it's done right, of a car that eats parts if it is done wrong.

dropping a replacement engine into a 15 year old car would be a financial no no , but if money is not your concern you could put in a 4.2 V8 or a 2.7 T . I am sure the brakes and suspension would have to be upgraded to match so there goes more money.

The 2.8 is a very robust motor although I will admit somewhat anemic for that size of car. I think its a fine engine , but if you want more get up and go get your wallet out , the skies the limit.

Engine swap would probably cost as much as buying another A6 with the engine you want in it.
