Default the ever problematic memory seats...

hey everyone, I just bought my fist audi last week (and thus, this is my first post); a 2001 nemo blue 4.2. I got a great steal on this car, though it needs a good amount of drivetrain work, almost all my questions about those have been answered by searching quite a bit on the forums. however, there's one issue that I have not found an answer to: every thing works on my car great with the exception of the drivers side memory seat. no, this isn't a stop button problem, been there, done that. the seat, steering wheel, and mirrors all adjust manually, and the passenger mirror auto-tips when in reverse, but none of the memory buttons work, nor do they light up with the headlights (the passenger side does though). the steering wheel also does not automatically retract when I park the car, regardless of which position the stop button or the button on the steering column is in. I read some posts about possible connector corrosion, etc, but am unsure of how to remove the buttons, and can't quite figure out where exactly the control module is, anyone have any pictures or diagrams?

my only other question, I think I'll be able to figure out after I do some tinkering, if not, I'm sure someone will clue me in.

Default One suggestion is to look under the seat to check the connectors... <edited&

There should be a brown, green, and red connector blocks in a row, as well as a small black one and a small yellow one.

Here is a pic:

According to the Bentley Manual, the brown conector is for seat memory, check that connection.

I am also assuming that you have checked your fuses to make sure that the fuse for the memory seat has not blown?

Default 2002 S6 questions

Should the steering wheel rise on parking, and the psgr mirror dip on reversing?

Default Yes...

the passenger mirror will tilt down in reverse if you ahve the mirror **** turned to the right mirror position. Used as a parking aid. If the mirror **** is pointed to the center or the driver's side, the right mirror will not tilt down. Very handy for parallel parking and avoiding scraping the rims.

The steering wheel is designed to tilt up and retract in when the car is turned off, and go back into memory position when the car is started. I cannot remember which position the button should be for on/off, but try both (I don't have the manual in front of me).

Default Hah, I came fairly prepared

I actually spent a great deal of time, etc researching and finding just what suits me best, I think that I can handle many of the electrical gremlins in this beast, it's just that until I get my bentley manual and VAG-COM, I'm a bit at my mechanic's and the communities mercy. but a quirky electrical system suits me pretty well, it'll be a good opportunity for my to redesign some of the circuits.

the first thing I looked up was the fuse, but I assumed that since the manual said that so many other things ran off that fuse, it wasn't it, but I'll dig out my multimeter tomorrow and check, I'm also going to check the connectors, etc, now that I know which one. when I find something out, I'll post the results, and when I get the car cleaned up a bit, I'll put up a post of my year long car hunt and decision making process, I had quite a bit of fun just picking the thing out, and once I iron out the few repairs I have left, I'll start with the real fun of driving the thing.

And you can code your key to a specific memory. Great feature if your wife drives your car.
