Default Having issues - instant power loss/ heat loss

Seems to happen after a few hrs of driving... I get sudden power loss. Just for a second then comes right back. Then happens again intermittently but steady until the car is turned off and cooled. I noticed after a few times the heat in the car turned cold and the gauges(oil and water) also lost heat. When I turned off the heat in the car it seemed to happen less often. No engine lights came on at all. The next day at the mechanic, he scanned my car. Only thing tripped was an EGT sensor. Its been bad for a while. He said that should have nothing to do with the problem.
Thanks for any help in advance!!!

EGT sensors can certainly cause a power loss - I've had them go bad in an A6 and the car became sluggish all the time it seemed. I've had them go bad and create no drivability issues too. I would start there, since you know they are bad anyway.

Search the tech section - you can "trick" the car into thinking they are good by connecting both ECU plugs to one sensor, and you can also reflow the solder in the sensors sometimes and get them working again.
