My wife just bought a new to her A6 Quattro. I noticed that the headlights are projector and have HID lamps. How do I find out if these are OEM HIDs or some aftermarket retrofit? The lights so not perform any auto aim maneuvers like I would expect to see with a stock setup and I don't see any aftermarket looking ballast boxes anywhere upon first glance. Does anyone here have any tips? Or maybe a housing model number cross-reference I can research? Every Google search I do only yields bulbs and housings for sale, no research material. Thanks in Advance for any help, insight, or suggestions.

C5 A6 xenon hid headlights do not aim, but can adjust vertically according to load. Odds are you have original lights.

What do you mean by aim? Manual adjust like the Euro Allroad's??

My 04 with Xenon has the most highest PR code leveling system that will level when driving vs the static adjusting in park only.

I meant they only aim vertically according to load, not horizontally for cornering. I thought OP was asking about both steering and load adjustment
