Headlight Repair Question
Does anyone think it is possible to build a good HID (facelift) headlight from a working but cracked (tabs missing and back shell cracked) HID headlight with parts from a good halogen headlight?
Do they disassemble easily enough not to break more parts?
Are the outer shells the same (or similar enough)?
Is the lenses the same? (or similar enough)?

You can -- I did it.
Everything is removable, including the harness (which you will need to swap it over). Once you get it apart it will be fairly obvious.
There will be a different w/ the 98-99 headlights. Inside of the case has less room on the older version of the headlights (you can tell by little dimples around the projector shroud).
The 98-99 headlights also has a different design on the lenses, (3 lines separating the turn signal area from the main beam portion) -- Same shape though, they're interchangeable with each housing.

SO you can move the HID mount to the Halogen projector, or do you need to move the whole projector assembly over?
What about the leveling motor.
All parts are post facelift (unless I need to steal some of my pre-facelift scrap to make it work.

The headlight motor is removable as well
Take off the back cover on both headlights and take a look to see if everything matches up. Mounting point for the projector/shroud assembly should all be the same. It's the area that the leveling motor locks into that
It's just a matter of the mounting area being located in the same spot for the leveling motor to fit correctly. There was a slight difference w/ mines, but I'm not sure if it was so much a halogen vs Xenon thing, or an early headlight vs 00-01.
