Help - 2003 A6 Avant - Won't Run

Default Help - 2003 A6 Avant - Won't Run
Looking for troubleshooting ideas - my 2003 Audi A6 Avant 3.0 decided today it's not going to run. Engine starts hard (long crank cycle) fires and runs for about 2-3 seconds then dies. Max RPM is 800 before engine shuts down. NO CODES - NO CODES STORED. I did over a dozen attempts to get engine codes. Nothing recognized.
Any ideas, previous experience or general direction to start looking would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Nothing recognized? Are you using Vag/VCDS or a generic obd scanner??

Is your gas tank empty?

Can you hear the fuel pump running when you first turn the key on? Sounds like you get spark, does it sound normal when you fire it or is it rough?
