Default How to check oil pressure switch? & oil pressure

Hey guys,

I have an 02' 3.0 V6. When i start the car hot or cold there is no light no matter how long i let it idle. When drive it after after about 3-4min the light pops on and it seems to pop on as im slowing down/turning. if i turn the car off and back on the light is gone.

oil, level is fine. pump is not clogged. motor sounds ok.(new oil & filter) Could this just be the pressure switch? and if so how can i check it? unplugging it??

also where can i find a gauge to check the oil pressure and where do i connect it? where the switch goes?

any help would be greatly appreciate it. im scared to drive it but its my only car so i have to get it back on the road.

How would you know the pump not clogged without pulling the pan? LOL.
You can get a mechanical pressure gauge with tubing and probably an assortment of fittings from Summit Racing. You can hook the gauge up to the pressure port on the engine where the switch it…just unscrew the pressure switch and screw in the proper fitting/pressure line.

I don't like mechanical pressure gauges going into the passenger cabin…a broken line (some of them are nylon, but even copper can leak) means hot oil in the cabin. So mechanical gauges are best used for diagnostic purposes. If you want a real pressure gauge readout in the cabin use an electric sender…they're also available from Summit Racing or just google something.

As to where it hooks up, look on your Bentley manual for the component location. This is from my ebahn; All credit to Bentley Publishing, yada yada yada
