Default Issue with a 2000 Audi A6

This is my daughters car and she said people have been telling her and she has seen this too. That some times while the car is sitting in the driveway/parking lot of her work, the lights will flash like she is locking the car even though she has not touch her keys to lock. Last night the horn went off for about 10 seconds the same time the lights went off, then horn shut off lights keep going. Any Ideas?

She forgot to turn off the motion sensor? Top button inside the drivers door jamb. Have to do that if you leave the windows open or you have a dog. I don't know if the lights flash on, but I know it alarms with the wimpy horn in the trunk.

not sure if this has anything to do with it either, but noticed the unlock button does not work on the key fob. The lock and open trunk do work. Any thoughts?

Search for convince module malfunctions. I recall some have posted that device does these kind of things when it has gone off the reservation.

Use VCDS to pull the codes from the alarm monitor. It might just be a malfunction of the driver door latch switch.

Reset the codes, and when it happens again, pull the new codes and that is your culprit.

You could also disconnect the interior monitoring module, which is under the rear seat, IIRC.

Default sure sounds like locking module (convenience module).

But I go along with clearing codes and catching the next one that pops up.

If that door latch trigger keeps coming back, then it needs a new latch, or the wiring in the door jamb is broken/damaged. You should be able to go through the measure blocks and find one that says what triggered the alarm last. Save you from having to wait for it to do it again.

Default I cleared all the codes for central locking system(35) and......

Interior Monitoring(45)drove for a few days. Ran a scan and got these codes back again. Not to concerned with the locking as it might be battery in fob or fob itself. More concerned with the interior monitoring because it will sometimes out of nowhere the horn and lights will starting flashing. It ran down her battery. Ran output test for locks and everything passed fine including the unlock of all doors, that is why I thought it might be batteries or fob. But for some reason it will not let me run output test for interior monitoring. I just set the sensitivity to 50 instead of 100. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
