Leaking 5hp24a
Hey Everyone,
I have a 2001 A6 4.2 with a 5hp24a transmission that is leaking. Ive removed the part indicated by the yellow circle and replaced the gasket indicated by the green line. The transmission fluid is leaking by the red arrow from where the bolts connect to the transmission. I know that it is not the differential gear fluid because I replaced that and the color is clear/yellowish. The Trans fluid is red and leaks running down the side of the transmission and dripping on the cats.
Any help is appreciated

Perhaps you should consider replacing the gasket at the red arrow?

Step one in rebuilding the trans is removing the transfer case…the gasket you want to replace is right there in the picture.
