It might be easier to get to if you take off the rear door.

BTW, it's called a striker plate. #7 on the diagram.

Striker. STRIKER PLATE for 2002 Audi. #8Z0837033A
Can you post a similar diagram for the passenger front door please?

I'm sure it unlocks. But it won't open. Unless you pull on a handle(inside or outside) you won't open the door There is a difference between open and unlocked

Default the door is opened

You can't get to the screws when the door closed. This is how i did it. I entered through the driver's door and forced a flat screw driver on the side of the locking **** on the top of the door panel to pry out the black housing so I could have enough space for me to insert a wire with a small hook at the end. I kept sinking and pulling the wire and managed to pull on the mechanism that opened the door. This was a combination of brains and luck. But guys I must admit, audi's security system is the safest. We made the right choice.

Lift the whole panel up & away from the door (by a couple of inches only) & then disengage the hook of the lock cable from the silver handle. Hope this helps. Please, please please, don't do any cutting - it won't get you anywhere & you will ruin a beautiful panel.
