Noob here. I have a 2000 Audi a6 2.7t and the harsh Maine road conditions have caused my center resonator to rust away. Ive had the car about 5 years now and always wanted to do a custom exhaust. I did a lot of research and decided to go with a Magnaflow 11386 perforated xpipe and 10416 Magnapacks. I decided on this setup due to strict Maine laws on excessive noise, now Im afraid itll be too quiet. I dont want to go ahead and spend $300 and be unhappy with the result. Should I return the perforated xpipe and get a regular one or keep it?

Turbos and catalytic converters are excellent mufflers. you have 2 turbos and 4 cats. I suspect you wouldn't be able to hear it run with no muffler at all but I have no actual evidence of that. sorry about your strict noise laws.

Im aware of the cats thats why im afraid of it being so quiet. I just dont know because I dont believe anyone has ever tried this setup before so I cant really get an idea of what it would sound like.

It's rusted away so it's open right now right? The only thing you can do is make it quieter.

Haha I totally derped on that one. It's not super loud right now but it's getting there. Right now it's just an unpleasant noise

I went with straight pipes and the magnapacks in place of the muffler. Sounds great!
