Fuel injector orings are a major source of vacuum leaks as well. I had this problem a few weeks ago. Car ran rough sounded like a wrx and no codes until finally it registered random misfire with no cylinder... Found 2 orings bad at base of the injectors. changed them and the car is again happy

Good find, cheap repair and often overlooked on a 10+ year old car.

Default Good show. Every time an injector rail is pulled, use new O-rings.

Nice that on a 10+ year old car the injector rail(s) haven't been pulled or the intake manifold. Seems like my intake manifold on 4.2 V8s get pulled every 6-8 years because the changeover flapper rods seize and the links or the vacuum motor(s) get damaged.

Default fuel rail...

My fuel rail had been off by po mechanic and one of my orange was deformed and was letting in un metered air. Had another on the same side leaking as the other rings were all cracked and shrunk.

I ran a scan after purchasing the VCDS. I gave up the code P1857. I Have looked all over to find out what this one means and all I can find is more trouble shooting. Anyone have any further ideas. I did have a mechanic tell me Cylinder one was misfiring and he moved the coil pak to #3 but then when I came back the next day he could not tell on his scanner if there was a misfire or not. He told me to drive it more and come back.

Thanks Robsa6 I have actually looked at that post. I have that same code showing up in my TCU. The additional codes I have are all door and lock issues but I think that was from disconnecting my dome light because it kept falling down every time the door was shut due to a broken bracket. I am going to go get a new MAF even though I have cleaned mine, you never know...I will let you know what happens. Again thank you for your time!!
