Default Need Help! 2000 Audi 2.8

Before we begin I'd like you to know that my knowledge on cars is very limited and that when i'm angry I do stupid things.

My cars battery has completely died, I couldn't fill it with water or recharge it to make it work. My friend, some how, miraculously had a spare one laying around, apparently brand new. He gave it to me because I couldn't afford $150 one. I bring battery home and go to remove the old one with the knowledge I received from a youtube how to video. I removed the negative wire first and then this other little one next to the positive wire, when I go to remove the positive wire as soon and the wrench touched the nut it broke! I am thinking from all the battery acid and neglection. The screw is on really tight and I cant remove it, I tried everything. I almost cutt the wire while I was mad at god for forsaking me. Something told me not to, but there are slits that broke the rubber that I will now have to black tape over. dammit!

Someone please help its I really need my car too work. I am having the worst luck with it. Here are some pictures of it.

First, if you can't handle the stress of working on a difficult car sell the Audi to someone else and buy a Honda less than 5 years old.

Now, that you are mad at me, you can forgive the car. (See what I did there)

Just take your time. Go to a hardware store or even Wal-Mart and pick up a set of battery clamps. They are not the best but will get you going. All that really matters is that all the wires going to the positive get to the positive and all the wires going to the negative get to the negative.
You don't need the purpose built clamps from Audi.

And remember never let temporary annoyances cause you to create permanent damage.

you need a hammer and a flat head screw driver in my opinion.
Place the head of the flat head against the battery terminal and hit the back of the screwdriver harder and harder, but not with all your might. Just enough to wiggle the bracket off the terminal .

Default Use a flat head screwdriver to spring the clamp open.

While twisting the screwdriver it might even loosen the clamp.

There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with your clamp that a new bolt and nut (get them from the auto store..they're maybe $.50). You don't need a new clamp although that might be the easiest source for the bolt.

There are also battery terminal pullers that work great. Buy one when you get new bolts (get one for the negative terminal too). You can clean the terminals with baking soda and water paste or buy a can of terminal cleaner and terminal corrosion preventer (two separate cans).

before you use force, use the screwdirver to pry open the clamp. Then tap or slide it up.

The problem is that it is corroded and tight. With no nut there, simply loosen it by prying.

replace the nut with a copper or galvanized one from the hardware store.
