Outer tie rod end question
Just replaced a outer TRE on a 01 and it's adjusted close enough until an alignment can be done, steering wheel is straight and drives straight on level road for now, what I did was turn the TRE with the pivot end out a few times more then the original one that was replaced with some reference measurements then locked the nut.
The question is can the TRE be adjusted with out removing the pivot end from the upright arm, I felt a little un-easy turning the inner but I suppose that is what an alignment shop does with toe adjustments, is this true?

The rod is adjusted by loosening the inner and outer lock nuts, and then rotating the rod itself to achieve the specified toe-in setting. There should be no reason to remove either TRE for adjustment.

Thanks for the info I was curious about that, did not see a inner lock nut just a six point square on the female thread for a wrench to lock the outer nut.

Now I see what you mean A6Gary I looked a pic of an inner tie rod, the inner rod turns in a socket connected to the rack end as I suspected, makes sense although I had to be sure.
Thanks Again!
Thanks Again!
