I got this code last week. I searched the forum for an explanation, and it seemed that there were several possibilities, including the EGR valve, charcoal canister, a loose gas cap, and low voltage.
I recently bought this car and the previous owner had it for 6 years but never replaced the battery. I replaced the battery and the CEL went off.
So mine was in the "due to low voltage" category.
This may help others searching the code.

I don't think the EVAP test runs if the tank(fuel) is below 1/4 or above 3/4 full. So wait it out a bit if you haven't already, and see if the code returns.

I'm not sure how long it's been since you've replaced the battery, but disconnecting the battery also resets all of the OBD II Monitors -- so it may also be a case of the EVAP monitor currently being in a "Not Ready" state.

Don't think he cares…he was just posting a possible cause for the MIL that went away when he replaced the battery.
In that vein, I just replaced the battery on our 2K4.2A6Q because it finally went dead overnight…gave lots of warning for about two years, load tester indicated weak but not dead, car turned over slowly but caught/started with no problems.
The alternator normally put enough of a flash charge on it to enable startup the next morning, but when that went, the battery was dead one morning in the garage. Lasted about 6 years IIRC.
The new battery sure slings the engine over quickly (95AH audi OEM…spendy) and I don't get the rattle from the cam chain tensioner(s) that it used to.
