P1179 and P0175 keep coming back
OK so it's an A4 but I'll pretend its my A6 3.0L because you guys are so knowledgeable.
Wife's 05 3.0L keeps getting p1179 and p0175, this time with the latter setting the MIL on. These codes have been recurring for months and the car has been to the dealer 3 times with them, but they were always secondary codes not setting the MIL on. Previous culprit was the Coolant Temp Sensor setting the MIL. With the CTS changed by dealer, now P0175 is setting it. Doing a search, I'm not coming up with much for this pair of codes by themselves. To make it more complicated, I just pulled the codes and VCDS shows 01039 - Coolant Temperature Sensor (G2)
30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent under the Instrument portion of the test, less than a month after dealer changed the CTS. First time this code has popped.
Gas mileage has been under 20 for a while which I think is low for that car even in winter. I should say the last time in the shop, there were 4 codes for Bank 1 and Bank 2 (1129, 1127, 0175, 0172 as well as the CTS). And it says Intermittent for all.
One suggestion on the B6 forum was replace the MAF. But searching through the forums, it seems like there are usually misfires or other symptoms associated with a malfunctioning MAF. Car has no performance issues but given how tight the 3.0L cats are, I don't want to ruin the 05's by continuing to run rich.
