I lost my one and only key for my 2000 A6 a while ago and just bought two new keys from a locksmith that have the fob and everything, but they asked if I had a program key and I have no idea what they mean. I've searched on here how to sync the keys to the car, but is there something else I should know about getting new keys? They apparently went through a dealership to get the fob and cut the keys, but they have me worried when asking if I have a "program key" and I have no idea what they mean

Don't believe you need one for the 2KA6.

Immobilizer came with 2002+ IIRC.

Dealer said same thing when I had to new keys for my '02. 2002 and newer gets the pleasure to pay high fee for programming.
