quality refurb torque converter?
just bought an 01 a6 Quattro 2.7t. throwing po741 tcc solenoid stuck off. I'm pretty sure the TC needs to be replaced. are the refurbed TCs online ( partsgeek, ect.) a good or a bad idea? any thoughts greatly appreciated. 350$ vs. 950$

I got one off of ebay for 245$. I too got that p0741 code. Turns out, I had low engine compression so I"m just finishing rebuilding my engine.....considering going through my transmission....but I think I may hold off till it needs to be done. Anyway, there is a company on ebay that has good reviews of 99.9% positive whom I purchased mine from, they are out of Chicago.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Search on ebay is best guess, or amazon. I think I'm gonna hold off and drive it till I need to do that job. I"m not sure as of yet....can ya tell I'm taking my time, but becoming impatient, she's my daily driver and I don't beat on her much.... I miss driving her, drives so nice! BTW, The converter I purchased specifically states that it is a stock replacement with the fix of the P0741 code.

In the auto parts industry, "refurbished" means "we fixed what was broke".
As opposed to "remanufactured" which means "We tore it down all the way into component parts, tested each one to make sure it is still within spec for new, and then remanufactured the entire assembly so it meets the same specs as new."
So, know that when you are getting "refurbished" that does not tell you anything except "we fixed it". If you can get a quality remanufactured part, you're almost always assured of better long-term performance from it. Which you do pay for, yes.
