Radiator replacemement
Word is the crashed A6 (for those following my story) starts and runs well (well enough to get it off the truck and into the garage).
The first thing it will get on its way to being "ugly but roadworthy" is a new radiator. (assuming the mounts and fans are not too mangled).
Are there any cautions I need to pass along?
Is there a trick they need to know about bleeding air from the system or does it clear itself fairly well?
Hoping the ATF cooler part was not broken so the only fluid they lose is changing the connections.

Umm…the only fluid loss in the ATF will be from the cooler AND changing connections.
Do an ATF service if it hasn't been done in 30K miles when you do the radiator swap if the ATF cooler is in the radiator. If the ATF has been changed in less than 30K you can probably get away with simply refilling/resetting the ATF level using the tedious procedure.
BTW, get NEW O-rings (don't reuse the old ones) for the transmission lines connections when you open them and eventually reconnect them. There's a good reason for this…LOL!

...Tedious transmission top off....he probably lost a pint from the cooler. He just needs to drive it until hot so the thermostat in the cooler opens, then let the trans fluid cool below 90F and then open the fill plug, engine running, car level and if nothing flows out, top off until it does. Easy
