How long will S6 Production last?
I assume that it will be for at least a few years? Would it be safe to speculate that the changeover for this vehicle will be similar to how Audi has handled the new A4 introduction: the S vehicles are the last to arrive & the longest to stick around? So when is the A6 supposed to be new? 2004 or 5?
Thanks, lusting/planning the new FAMILY vehicle.

S6, initially thought to be 2 years ('02-'03) at 600 per year...
Perhaps an '04 and/or '05 (current body style)will be available but it is unknown.
As far as the RS 6...there will be two "runs" of approximately 400 cars each...the first to allegedly arrive in late spring of '03 (? as an '04), the second to arrive in the fall, early winter ('04 model). It is unknown whether any more will be made and sent here.
As far as the new A6 goes, it will arrive in Fall of '04 as an '05 model year.

S vehicles usually arrive 12-24 months after new model.
The S4 was actually dropped as a factory-orderable item along with regular A4s at the time of the switchover to the new A4, any S4s in showrooms alongside new A4 will have been stuck in the delivery pipeline somewhere.
My dealer says in the UK, the new S4 will likely be out early next year along with new A8. New S8 and A6 will possibly be 2004, with new S6 in 2005. you may have to wait a little longer in the US, but IMHO the time gap seems to be shrinking so you may see stuff come through around the same time we do in the UK.

What are you talking about, dealers are discounting EVERY Audi...oh yeah, and most Porsches too...
Boxster and Boxster Ss are going for "on the window" advertised at $6-8k under MSRP...perhaps the final price could be closer to $8-10k under.
The fact that a few S6s have been sold for several thousand under MSRP means nothing about their success or longevity. Depending on the market they have done either very well or marginal at worst. Just because you see one or two on eBay every now and then means nothing. I've seen M5s on eBay and for less than sticker (ok, only $1500 under sticker, but still, UNDER sticker.)

The original numbers were:
1200 S6 Avants to the US, starting in 2002 and running into 2003. I've been lead to understand that more than 2/3s of that 1200 had already been sold by this last January; so I don't think you'll see a 2004, but on the otherside you may still find a few stragglers even this time next year and dealers willing to deal if your not too picky about options (primarily just paint colors, nav system, etc.) - there aren't all that many options on these cars, as they come pretty loaded.
The next S6 go-round will probably be no sooner than 2006 or 07 in the US market.
You'll love it, if you buy one. Hottest full-size wagon in the States right now (or perhaps ever has been). Power and handling a-plenty and comfy roomy for the whole family and Rover too.
