Replacing Transmission Control Module
Does anyone have a guide on replacing a transmission control module on a 2003 Audi A6 3.0L Quattro?
Where is the unit located?
My car isn't displaying a check engine light but the Audi dealer read a code on their reader that said the transmission control module may be worth replacing. As far as my own observations, the car will shutter when shifting at 45mph when slowly accelerating. Can't really tell that it does it when accelerating fast. Also, when using tip-tronic it doesn't have shifting problems. It is a little abrupt shifting between 1st and 2nd.
What will happen when I know I must replace the module?
Thank you all!

There're too many to list, do a advanced search -> TCM -> Title Only -> A6

Sounds like a T/C issue to me .. that module may be very hard to find as these cars eat them when you get water in the car .. it is under the passenger floor I believ .. right where water will run to when it comes in your fresh air intake.

Thank you for the replies.
After leaving the Audi dealer, Advance Auto Parts used their reader and didn't get a code.
Is there anything special I need to do with the new TCM I put in? Does it need to be coded or anything?
How do I go about cleaning the drains?
Everyone is very helpful on this forum... thank you all!

I might have one.
My parts car is a 2002 3.0 Q, but I have not pulled the module yet to check for damage.
The car was scraped for a trans problem, so I don't want to say the module is good till I see it.
I can probably pull it this weekend.

Pulling the TCU does not require removing the seat.
Just remove the door sill trim and lift the carpet.
With a little wiggling you can get eh TCU box out.
I was happy to see mine is clean and dry, and ready to find a new home.
