Default Spare tire with 18 inch tires installed

Those of you who have put 18 inch rims on your C5's, what kind of spares are you fitting in your wheel well's? DC roads are crushing my tires and I am tired of being caught without a spare. What are you all using?

I have an 02 S6 Avant.

Current tires: 255/35ZR-18 Continental ExtremeContact DWS

OEM doughnut mini. Works fine.

Why not keep the original spare? It is a spare after all, so it doesn't need to match your 18" wheels. As long as your 18" tires are correctly sized, the stock 17" spare should do fine.

Also, shouldn't the stock spare be a full size 17" rim, not a doughnut mini?

The only thing that affects the choice of spare, or would cause you to need a different one, is a different OD for your wheels. Moving to 18s means nothing - what is the circumference of the wheel/tire package?

Mine is + 2.5%. I expect i can get home with that difference without wear.

My original donut was 'exchanged' by the dealer while conducting warranty work a few months ago with an A4 donut which will not fit around the Avant brakes. Dealer service has said sorry, but cannot find me another donut. So now I am looking for a full sized spare.

It seems that they removed the donut while doing work and simply replaced it with another accidentally.

recall that now. So this is all irrelevant. You simply need a new, correct spare. Get one from a recycler.
If you can put a full-sizer in, by all means do. Juts do the math to get one that fits, and fits over your brakes.

Make the bastids buy you a new one.
There is no excuse for their exchange/theft.
Take it up with the dealer manager or owner.
