Default TBB from 034

Just found my throttle body boot has a split. I remember hearing the silicone one from 034 is the way to go. Is this still true? Or, is another one suggested?

My only enhancement to the car is a MTM chip, stage 1 I assume.

Thanks

I bought one off amazon,

Amazon.com: Mishimoto MMHOSE-AUD-TBBK Black Throttle Body Hose for Audi S4: Automotive Amazon.com: Mishimoto MMHOSE-AUD-TBBK Black Throttle Body Hose for Audi S4: Automotive

WOW I didn't think I paid $50 for it!

the silicone work great, but you need to make sure it is on tight and everything is clean or it will slip off.

Default It pays to use a special hose clamp for silicone hoses.

You want a constant-pressure clamp rather than one that just holds a specific length adjustment. The worm gear clamps are just the cheapest from audi's standpoint. Mishimoto, for example, is missing a bet by not selling decent clamps with their TBB…but that would increase the price by about $60. Those clamps are not cheap, but neither is blowing the dang boot in East Bu##fu#K Indiana in the winter.

Default New boot solved several issues

Put the new 034 boot on, the special clamps supplied. Just drove about 500 miles and zero DTCs. How nice. I was getting codes for too lean and too rich? Also for a bad O2 sensor. All gone. Plus I am getting 3-4 mpg boost.

I did not notice the boot was leaking until my spouse said my car felt slower than she remembered. Admittedly I have become a much more reserved driver and really didn't notice it. But now that it is fixed I am amazed that I never noticed. And, I had looked at the boot as part of routine maintenance and just did not see it. Lesson, slow down and take more time on inspections.

I was trying to figure out the odd DTCs about too lean and too rich and was getting frustrated. Glad my wife figured it out.

Does the engine cover fit with the 034 boot? I bought a silicone boot and it works well but the engine cover no longer fits.

Someone makes a silicone boot that still allows the engine cover to fit. For the life of me I can't find it.
