Also, it totally wiggled free really easy when I first touched it today... What?!? Could have been done last night if it had acted like that then! Lol disconnected leads from the back and it actually came out from under the car pretty easy with the turbo pipe removed. The best part... The old one was the Bosch unit!!! I had blindly ordered the Bosch replacement earlier and took a gamble I would return it for the Valeo one if that's what my car had. Finally got lucky!

Now let's hope it's smooth getting the new one in and everything else put back together.

Btw, does anyone know if places like AutoZone will buy the old unit as a core? Or should I just toss it?
Don't forget to reinstall both connections before you put the alternator back in position. I forgot to do that each time, lol.

Not sure if anyone purchases the cores. I think the alternators are branded on the back of the black plastic anyway, it'll either say valeo or bosch. So for anyone trying to figure it out in the future, just slide under there with a flashlight and you'll have your answer.

I bought one from Amazon (official Bosch rebuilt unit, part numbers match up, was in a brand new Bosch box, etc) and there wasn't any core charge... So...

It's almost impossible to see on the 2.7t with the pipes from the turbo charger/intercooler in the way. I've got both connectors on again and it basically in place... But of course it's ridiculously hard to get back on the mounting bracket. The two "wings" that the top bolt secures just seem ever so slightly too close to each other to fit... Like 1mm further apart and I could get it slid up there and aligned for the bolt. Been using a hand file to try to file away a little of the metal on the rear "wing" on the alternator but it's slow going and I'm taking a break now.
