Take it to a transmission shop that knows what they're doing. There are just so many things that could have gone wrong with the old transmission removal and new transmission install, not to mention whether the 'new' transmission is the right one or is any good anyway.

I hate to say it but if you used the wrong transmission code it will do this. Also if the system detects enough slippage it throws it in limp mode. You may have just replaced it with a junk transmission. You could try the speed sensor, its inside the transmission attached to the valve body.

Hey, my friend! I have a question for you. I have a 99 a6 quattro and it seems that my forward gears are very sluggish . Reverse works with no problem. It drives but takes forever to build up speed. Do you think this could be a clogged tranny screen or screwed up tranny? I checked the fluid and it was blackish brown color. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Kinda late for this, isn't it? Generally the code is used to verifying that the trans is a match *prior* to installing it. Do you have the code off the old trans? They should match.
