the car is really for my son for school as he is living at home and saving me a few bucks I decided to get him something a little bit cool to go to school with ( and something I know how to fix )

got the 2006 A4Q MT for 3000 CAD so that's about 2300 USD for cmparisons. 250K kilometers ( so about 150,000 mikes ) . Not a huge investment , and it needs some work so I have him wrenching it a little.

He replaced the thermostat yesterday and he actually did very well for his first wrenching job . Piece of cake compared to the A6.
This weekend he will be doing the HPFP cam follower ( il have to keep my eye on him for that one ) . That is the Achilles heal of this car if bad rings doesn't get ya , if the cam follower is worn through I doubt we will have the car for long.

Yep, was just clicking around incase the A6 dies and also started thinking the A4 was a good choice.

He is getting used to wrenching now that he is a "utility worker" in a schoolbus fleet garage.

the a6 is dead due to transmission , the A4 isn't on the road yet as it needs work .. and the 911 has the engine out of it ... the entire panzer fleet is down for the count..

My 914 is sitting (and has been for 20+ years), but THIS SUMMER I am getting it back on the road, inspired by my rebuilding the front end of the A6.

The rest of the German fleet is an '07 E350 (wife's daily driver), my '08 GL320 (Tow vehicle and "Work Truck"), and the '04 Touareg (lent to my daughter) (Poor kid has two houses and still has dad's car. Go figure)

You need to add an MB to the fleet.

How can you pass this up?
