timing code after rebuild
So I had a cracked piston and a leaking turbo seal in my 02 a6, pulled it out and ended up doing a full out rebuild of the motor and new k03s. After many hiccups I got it kinda running.
It throws a sensor code for the g163 implausible signal. So I pulled both valve covers, both intake to exhaust cams are dead on. Timing belt was done with proper tools, my only concern was when I tightened the tensioner it rotated the bank one cam sprocket a few degrees.
From my understanding a bad cam sensor only throws a short to ground or open circuit when bad. Any ideas where to start?
Update: on the sensor connector, I get good ground, 12v and 5v

Well if the cam moved while your tensioning the belt your doing it wrong. Both cam pullies must be broken loose spinning free, crank on mark, lock bar on the cams, tension the belt, then tighten the pullies. Cam timing is now set. If you tightened the pullies then tensioned the belt you defeated the whole purpose of using the tools.

remove the cam sensor and remove the little reluctor wheel it reads from. If the tab is bent or off at all they do this. I have tightened them down and they will move slightly with the bolt and wipe out the little tab. Then the signal is off and it sets a cam sensor implausible code.
