Towing a pop up camper
#11
I did not add an additional cooler for the trans. If I'm not mistaken our cars already have a cooler built into the radiator. As long as your fans are working properly, I don't think you'll have an issue. Again, don't go out and try to set any land speed records.
For mirrors, I use a set of tow mirrors that mount to the factory mirrors with rubber straps.

EDIT: here's our setup just before we rolled out for Memorial day weekend camp.
Ready to go up north!

Yes it does have a cooler built into the radiator. But they really are not very efficient and a will not be able to handle any extra cooling if towing happens to raise transmission temps significantly. Up Hills are going to be what generates the most heat in the transmission. If you had vagcom you could watch transmission temps and drive it without the trailer and then with the trailer up a hill and see if the temps raise significantly. If they do, an extra cooler would be a good idea to keep from shortening the life of the transmission.

I found my mirrors at my local Meijer (think Wal*Mart). But these I found on Amazon look identical: **** 11950 Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror. Once I got them set up, I marked them "left" and "right" so don't have to re-set every time I mount them. They work just OK. There is some air speed induced flex at highway speeds and some vibration induce blur. But for the price, I have no complaints.

If all goes well I will be picking up a new-to-us pop-up tomorrow night!
