Trying to change an alternator on a 2002 A6, typically how long does it take
and what is the level of difficulty.
I know the front bumper has to come off and such.
Anybody attempt this on their own, please share experience.

Speed depends on you. First, put the nose in service position (1 hour max), then remove and replace alternator (1 hour), and finally put the nose back together (1 hour max). Then you get to recode the radio and all that stuff.
I do the alternator job live, with the battery connected, but I would strongly recommend against that for most people.

If you aren't already into the project, send me an email... I took some pictures of my '99 2.8 alternator R&R. As far as time, I can't really say. I was only able to work on it for a couple hours at a time - wife had spinal surgery just a few days after the alt. $hit the bed, and we've got a 3 year old running loose here.
