Understanding differences between Audi A6 clusters and the compatibility issues
#31
My center display is bad in my 2000 A6. So I bought a used one from a 2000 A6 off of ebay. The center display works but I get an alarm, the oil display does not work and the ABS and Brake lights are on. Is this a bad display?

Hi!
I have the allroad 2003 petrol, 6 spd manual with the rings. I want the fis (computer) what more than the cluster do i need? I have vag-com and vag-tacho so i can read my pin and reprogram the new cluster. But how do i get the fis to work? do i need to re wire?

Audi S6 problem
Hello.
Thanks for the useful info.
I have now successfully changed the cluster in my MY2000 S6 to a MY2003 S6 cluster.
(My old cluster did have the grey contact, just for the record.)
Everything is working, and all the coding and service info has been transfered from old to new cluster.
However there is one small issue that needs fixing. The fuel consumption in the DIS isn't working. Have tried different coding on different channels, but nothing is working.
Do anyone have any tips?

Just clarifying.
I have a US 2001 A6 Quatro alroad with an immobilizer.
PN 4Z7920980B
I can put any Cluster II or Cluster III in it and it will work.
I am seeing Cluster III's PN 4B0920981N much cheaper than Cluster II's
But I will have to save the programming from the old cluster and restore it to the new cluster. To have everything working correctly ?
I mostly know what I am doing with CAN/J1939 as I worked with displays and clusters for construction and farm equipment. Though I am not familiar with Ross/VAGCOM.
If I screw up programming the new cluster - and the old one is still working, I can put that back in to get things running again ?
Is the above correct ?

Thanks.
Can I confirm that the Cluster III's will work in a 2001 A6 Quatro Allroad with a Cluster II ?
If I wire up a cluster to 12v and CAN can I program it without it being in a vehicle ?

Cluster II is without immobilizer
cluster III is with immobilizer,
As far I know all allroads came with immobilizer built in, unless someone de-actived in ECU, if you remove the cluster and start the car, it should shut it down in less then 5 seconds ,
you need to program inside vehicle as immobolizer will be transferred from ECU into your cluster replacement , hard to do that on bench if you deal with immobolizer

Help needed.
I swapped my cluster on S6 2002
New cluster won´t show gears, where (in VCDS) can i code it to automatic transmission to show gears on cluster. Also fuel consumption is 51l/100 now, maybe its the same reason?
Thanks

Bumping this. I'm curious. I've a cluster like this: https://www.romatronic.pl/pl/p/Liczn...0-900-RX-/1628
Can I switch that cluster out with a identical one, just with a full display in the middle instead of a half display
I've a Audi A6 2.4 -04. I'm in Sweden
