Default Wastegate exhaust leak, never before seen

Ive searched everywhere and have never seen anyone with this problem so i thought i would post about it. Any constructive ideas would be great but i have a semi plan.

I have an exhaust leak i can smell pretty bad even had high speeds. I got all new turbo back exhaust and nothing helped. So we hooked a smoker (like you would use for a boost leak test) to my tail pipe to see what we could find. The smoke started pouring out from around this wastegate actuator that penitrates through the wall of the turbo housing, shown in the picture below. I am not putting new turbos on the car cuz i am saving for an S5.

I am going to put copper or red RTV around the whole arm and see if i can at least get it so i cant smell it. I will let everyone know how this works out.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Default I will bet that copper or red RTV won't hold 700-900F.

All you have to do is google turbocharger wastegate bushing rebuild and all kinds of stuff pops up. Including pics and videos. It's not uncommon on BMW turbos. Dunno if you can find a kit to replace the bushing. Probably have to replace the turbo assembly.

I guess since I never searched bushing my search was too broad. Thank you sloop. I'll try and find a bushing

Perhaps someone has a repair kit. It would look something like this (bottom of post..I can't control where audiworld.com puts the pic):

BMW 135i 535i 335i Turbo Wastegate Rattle Repair Fix | Turbo Lab

Turbolabofamerica.com might even have one for your turbo.

It's about $100 for the BMW N54 engine turbo.

This particular kit you have to weld the arm on the shaft after you replace the bushing and wastegate flap/shaft. That thing gets HOT!

DIY Video.
The fix is a series of pics.
