What's the Power Steering fluid capacity on an '01 A6?

About 2-3 liters
If you turn the steering wheel back and forth, you'd probably need 3 liters per my procedure below.

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/susp_whls_brake_steer/psflush.html</a

Question about part of your writeup...
You write:
"Start the engine and count 4 seconds. Turn off the engine. This pumps clean fluid from the reservoir to the pump, through the system. The old fluid is collected in the empty container. 4 seconds of engine operation will pump about 2/3 liter through the system."
The nomenclature's confusing: Why is the line that sends p/s fluid to the pump the "return" line and not "supply", since it "supplies" the fluid?
Sorry if this sounds like a George Carlin routine, LOL...
I first thought that you're actually pumping clean fluid from the *bottle* via the "supply" line to the pump but I see the photo shows the opposite.
Great writeup and pix, btw, you were reading my mind... it actually looks like the A6 is more cramped than the A8, my PS reservoir is oriented laterally (and it's more cramped below, tho' I guess when the reservoir lifts up it has some room.

Jon
Thanks,
Jon

It's the resevoir return line, which is the same as the pump supply line
I tried to keep it consistent throughout the procedure, so I kept the nomeclature resevoir supply and return.
The return line of the resevoir is the supply line to the pump. If I called it the supply line (which it isn't), then what would I call the "goes in" to the resevoir?
;-)
And I had to change a picture after I did it up that was caught by an A4 guy.

Yep, you're damned if you do or if you don't... ;-)
Once I thought about it for a minute it made sense... I'll try and tackle it soon & hope I have enough working room in the A6 setup.
Cheers,
Jon
