Ahhhhh! And of course both the gaskets I got from the dealer don't fit... Time to go back again.

Pretty sure there wasn't a gasket to begin with... So previous dude that did this job must not have put one back on...

So I picked up this gasket yesterday; 078-131-120-M. It's a super thin metal gasket with a raised lip around where the actual inlet hole is. It has three points for mounting hardware.

However, when taking the part off, it looks like the more "simple" standard oval gasket would fit. I went over and picked up part 078-131-120-K which looks like it'll fit. It's a thin black plastic (?) gasket that's oval shape with just two mounting holes and a raised lip in the center around the inlet hole.

I'm not sure which is the correct part. I was told the metal one is the "updated" part. The only thing I can think of is that 3rd mount hole must go under the bolt which is located just above the EGR valve's lower mounting point. But that seems odd in that I would think it would cause whatever is above it (being held down by the other bolt) to not seal flush.

I also hate having to remove anything else that might have old crumbling gaskets (which I currently don't have replacements for) and just because it's a hard as hell spot to reach. Do you think I'll be safe using the older (but more "direct fit") part instead of the updated one?

Lastly, ECS lists the vehicle fitment for the new updated gasket as just being the C5 Allroad, which I don't own. The dealer did cross check with my VIN though. Think there could be confusion with my VIN or with their parts database? Or that ECS is just wrong...

Ok, so only the metal one fits. Good news. Bad news, I dropped it ALMOST instantly. God this is going to be near impossible. I put some high temp silicone around it and bolted it back up. I'll order three or four and have them shipped out since they're a lot cheaper then from the dealer. I'll fight with this another day...
