Windshield washer problem
2004 A6 Quattro sedan 4.2L
So when I activate my washer the wipers activate but no fluid comes through and no leaks under the car. The headlight washers do activate like they should including fluid. Are there separate pumps? The line isn't plugged. I blew low pressure air backwards through the line and got air bubbles at the reservoir. Fuse is also good. Anyone have any ideas?

Good so far. I'd test the pump next. Both pumps are mounted on the bottle in the left fender area--easier to reach from the wheel well. I forget--I think you dismount the bottle first.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I am familiar with the location of the tank and access method. I just wanted to know if there were separate pumps before I tear into it. Another example of Audi making things as difficult as possible. They definitely have an issue with DIY'ers.

This can be done without removing fender liner or removing tank. Forward of the hydraulic reservoir is enough room to get your hand in and pull the old pump out of the tank. Make sure to drain the washer tank down by pulling the outlet hose from the nipple on the side of the pump. Once it quits dripping you can extract the old pump from the grommet seal. It just pushes in and you only need to pull upward to remove. I turned it back and forth a couple of times first to be sure the grommet wasn't stuck. Once the pump is removed from it's hole you should have enough slack in the wiring to get it into a better position to undo the connector. Plug in the connector, re-insert the pump into the tank, reconnect the fluid hose and refill the tank. That's it.
Original pump. 13 years old
Next two pictures show access to the pump location
X marks the spot
Sorry for the poor lighting. Inner circle shows the grommet/ gasket for the pump
Pump is VDO product made Czech Republic from ECS Tuning
