ok. So I've had a 98 A6 for 10 years but earlier this week I got myself an 09 A6 prestige and I'm trying to take off the tail lights to put in some led back up lights but I can figure out how to take them out. Can anyone help a guy out? Very new here and this is my first post. Hello everyone.

There's one nut that's plastic. Takes a 13mm hex OR a flat head screw driver.

You have to remove the side storage doors in the liner to access the nut. Then, it's just pulling the light housing straight out.

Be aware that if you replace the back up lights with LED's you probably will get a small flash every 26 seconds as it checks to see if the bulb is out based on the original non-led bulbs. Others have tried it and that's what has been reported in the past.

I just had to do this again because my reverse LED bulb fell out of the socket.

It seriously took less than 5 minutes to do.

I believe the plastic side piece on the light also has to come off. But it's basically as described. Driver side one is more fun with the modules etc. Don't drop the nut lol

Thanks for the info guys I got it. The plastic cover on the side of the light was annoying to put back on. And I did drop the nut/screw thing for that but it didn't fall all the way down. 🤦🏻*♂️
