It supposed to be supported by 2 screws but like I said I just got the car never had to deal with 4.2 chain driven one so I'm waiting for parts to see if previous owner put wrong ones or it is the way that supposed to be. Beside that its all timing parts adjusters, rails, tencioners, water pump, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets thermostat water pump Crankshaft seals. Also B1S1 oxy since that was what I read with VAG at the time of purchase.
Ah ok that sounds better. The timing guides don't actually get screwed on there and are designed to move around on those pins and can fall off when the back cover isn't on.

I'm at 182K miles which is 292K km. Just replaced Plugs, coils, had trans fluid checked and topped. Looks like it will go strong for a while. 2006 A6 3.2 Quattro. Pleasure to drive.

I've got a 2005 3.2 with 202k and a 2006 3.2 s-line with 215k. Also a 2002 c5 4.2 with 224k and the old man has a d2 a8l with 210k and a d3 a8 short with 160k. Bought them all roughly around the 150k area and did purely p.m. stuff like timing belts and Trans fluid changes. Never a major issue, except a blown air strut recently on the d3.

How did you do timing belts on the 05 and 06 3.2s?

The point was to add a bit more 200k plus history to the otherwise perfectly relevant 3.2 models and it's quite easy for most to infer that applies to the 4.2s. I'll try and be a nice guy for once and assume you're just trying to be funny rather than a *****!

Since the 3.2 does not have a timing belt I was wondering how you replaced it in two different cars.

Yes sir. Unfortunately I may need to retract that mostly trouble-free past as I've got a likely injector issue on one of those 3.2 cars. I trust It'll be back on the path to 300k shortly.
