Just poured about 3/4 quart light is off am scare to overfill. The thing is that the dipstick is not easy to read i cant really tell. Is it suppose to be really wet with oil? Or is just moist3d?

did you check for any leaks prior your purchase??? is your oil level light been on since you bought it? car has to beep with the yellow min. oil level sign on the dash
hitting the check button next to mmi screen will show oil level sign but it doesn't mean you low on oil. is this what made you think you are low on oil or did it beep ?

have your car on level ground with the engine a little warm so oil can thin out ,pull your dipstick wipe it off clean then dip it in the engine and pull it out. dipstick is marked min on bottom then you have a ball or a bead then max mark. when you pull it out it should be wet with oil from bottom to little under max it's just a dipstick . repeat 2 times to double check.
I don't think 3/4 quarts would crazy overfill it you are fine . next time add little by little if needed

If you are waiting for the 'low oil light' to appear, you should be careful and understand that when the light appears, the oil level in your car is dangerously low and most likely will affect the engine.

It appears that you are not overly familiar with car maintenance and my recommendation to you would be to educate yourself on some of the basics. There are a number of great resources available online, but there are also classes offered in many colleges which help people.

I check my oil every time I fill up with gas and although my car doesn't consume much oil...it's a force of habit that I've had from early on.

Also, this might help you, it's a different engine, but same concept:

You should start using the oil recommended by the engine mfr: 502.00

It's that simple.

Do you have any history on that car? Was dino oil used or did they use synthetic?

If the previous owner used synthetic oil then stay with synthetic but you may consider one of the oils that are specifically formulated for high mileage cars. Those oils have additives that condition seals and have additional cleaning properties.

If the previous owner used dino oil then try the high mileage synthetic and see if the car starts to eat oil. Sometimes when the engine was neglected and oil, any oil, was not changed, the seals harden and the car consumes oil. If it does then go back to dino and maybe use 15 or 20W-50 in summer.

With 170K miles you don't have to worry too much about the 502, 504 or 505 VW/Audi spec. Today all oils, even dino oils, are high quality with plenty of additives. Just change your oil every 5K miles.
