I'm considering a 2006 A6 avant with 106k miles. It appears by the pictures that it is in good shape. I will be scanning it when I look at it. What problems could this model have, what should I look for? Some of the things I've seen in my search for information, replaced steering column, MMI failure. If you own or have owned this model what have you had to replace that is not normal maintenance? I checked out TrueDelta, small sampling. Thank you.

I have owned a '06 A6 Avant since 9/2008., and now have 74K miles on it. No major problems, except the recent DTC P9404 problem (leak detection pump problem). For the MY 2006 Avant, you should ensure that the TSB for the rear washer hose cracking was implemented on the car you're considering. If not done and the washer fluid leaks, it could cost you a couple of grand to fix (fluid leaks on the electronics in the left rear storage compartment. Other than that, just the regular maintenance items (brakes, brake fluid, tires, replacing TPMS sensors, oil/filter changes, etc.).
