Knock when turning wheel.

Knock when turning wheel.
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone knows what can cause a knock when turning the wheel. I notice it more when at slow speed or not moving. Its usually a single knock and happens more often when turning to the right and the road is uneven.
My garage is positioned on a slight grade and I back in. The knock happens everytime I back into the garage.
Thanks all,

Another possibility would be worn control arm bushings. Check yours for any excessive play (especially the uppers). Audi used fairly soft rubber bushings and they do not last very long.

That is what caused mine. The drivers side failed. Turn the wheel all the way in one direction and take a good look at the end link on that side. It was easy to see tha mine was bad upon visual inspection. They were around $100 apiece IIRC. I swapped that and the sway bar bushings while I was under the car.
