2009 Auid a6 engine whirling//odd noise
Hello, I was needing guidance on this issue. My 2009 A6 3.0 TFSI (80K) has a very strange noise when it starts up in the morning. Like a whistle/whirling noise. I just had the water pump/thermo+CTS+full flush and fill completed. The repair shop that has my car says it's possibly the Power Steering pump-however I've never head a PSP sound like this. Linked is the video of the sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you :)
My mechanic said just that earlier today. Poss Idle pully or tensioner. Thank you so much for the feedback. This also helps so they don't try to sell me on the timing chain tensioner, as the noise sounds nothing like the chain having issues.

It is funny that you post this today. I was putting out the trash can this morning and heard that exact same sound. I thought belt. In the maintenance schedule it says to check the tensioners. I'm wondering if Audi engineers know something about the tensioners that we don't.
When you first fired it up, there was a certain noise, I have heard that one noise only in the morning upon start up. After that, never again for the day. Thought it was the SC idler, I've replaced it and the noise is still there.
When doing the SC idler, I noted that the belts are Dayco belts. I prefer Napa Gates belts that look like traction tape inside. I think I'll pick up both belts, all pullies and idlers and replace the whole lot when I put the car back into Service Mode again.
Here's a little how to. First time took me about 2 hours to find and do everything to get into Service Position, second time I had the pulley replaced and car back together driving in an hour and a half total.
