4.2 Spark Plug options

I would stay away from the Autolites..do you really want a $1.99 spark plug in your Audi? I wouldn't..my recommendation as well as many others would be to stick with what came in your car from the factory. I have read that Many engineers build engines around spark plugs and the factory puts them in there for a reason.

To best answer, consider if the engine is PFI or FSI and how often you wish to change the plugs.
On my VH45DE engines (PFI) I have run both NGK iridium and NGK 2x plats. It came from the factory with the 2x plats just like our Audis do.
But those are PFI.
FSI can be very hard on the copper electrode, and the iriduims are only iridium on the center electrode, (they are copper on the grounding electrode). If you can find a 2x iridium, then i suppose that would be the bomb.
meth seems to favor iridium.....

An old thread, but...
...I'm in the same boat. Right now, I'm looking at both OEM spark plug options - Bosch and NGK for the 2005 D3 A8 4.2 V8 (BFM).
Audi supply both, though I'm leaning more towards Bosch. It's a bit cheaper than NGK as well.
