Default A6 air bag light

Hi guys I'm new to this forum

I got 2006 A6 3.2 Q and got an airbag light flashing
I went through some postings and they said it has something to do with back seat problem

What is the best solution for this type of problem? Going to local garage and check through VIA COM?

Thanks in advance!

It is probably the sensor in the rear seat. The dealer replaced mine and it has been fine ever since.

My airbag light just came on (solid) this last week. I have a 2006 as well. They must be timed.

Unfortunately my warrenty has run out and I have yet to get an extended warranty (issues getting confirmation if the warranty is valid on a US car in Canada). Mine will have to wait for now as I have a fairly lound "grinding" or metal on metal sound when the car is in motion. I'm guessing wheel bearings, but it could be anything. Can't touch the airbag light till that's paid for.

I think we are in very similar situation. I also live in Canada (Vancouver) and drive 2006 one and have this air bag problem. What I'm wondering is if I need to go to dealer right away. My friend recommended me to go to pg performance (have you heard of it?) since they will do the job cheaper.

how much did you pay for it? I heard inspection's about $130 and replacement is $700...yikes
plus is it really harmful to keep the light on for few days? I just got one yesterday night

It was covered by the warranty so I don't know.

The problem is probably that the weight for a rear seat sensor was exceeded. If the car is under warranty have the sensor replaced. If the car is out of warranty have the sensor/warning light reset and see if it comes back. If it does then pay to have the sensor replaced. If it doesn't, then leave well enough alone.

Invest in Bentley manual and see if you can change the sensor yourself by reading the TSB details.
