A6 Avant roof rails--are cross bars available, anywhere?
It is amazing! Audi designed such a great roof rail system--less drag, less wind noise, more rigid--and then you can't use it, because they don't offer a roof rack system for it. No cross bars.
Who had a similar problem, and what solution did you go with?

In Europe they have them
Here in the US we are screwed, for now anyway. It's quite humorous, indeed. Let's be patient and hope for the best...
BTW, I prefer the old system, not just because you can get cross bars for it. It's overall easier to attach things to it - think Xmas tree =)

Isn't that Europe?
That's what I said: they have it in Europe. If you talk to Thule USA, they will tell you that it's not available in the US. I tried.

I'm thinking about ordering the necessary components for our '06 A6 Avant from a Thule dealer in the UK. I've got much Thule gear from previous cars. It's ridiculous I've got to consider the Mont Blanc system thru the dealer.
Has anyone ordered from a dealer in the UK? The components I need are limited.

I assume this design fits tht e50" and 58" bars design that has been around for year...

do a search online or ebay for thule aero bars
. don't remember the length so i'll measure and get back to ya.
Take note that these bars have a CHANNEL + the (bike,ski,board carrier) attachments need their special SQUARE head screws and bolts. The carrier attachments at REI or sports store in US will not fit the aero bars.

I'm not going to buy the Aero bars. All my stuff is old and it's only going to fit the original style (rectangular cross section) bar. I'm trying to establish whether my old carriers and ski racks will fit the newer style black bars that have this slot in the bottom.
