Same problem. LH side headlights with adaptive lights defective warning sign. Take the light out and cut to open. Fabrication of wires was all baked and brittle. Exposed copper inside everywhere. I was told I cannot replace a left-right motor as well. I am looking for genuine Audi 2nd hand LH side headlight. If I buy a new pair, which one I should look for please. I don't want to spend NZ$5,000.00 for a pair of headlights. I am from NZ. Many thanks.

Sorry to hear this.
In m case, there was no wires were baked, The adaptive part did not work but the lights did work. So, I was lucky to find a new OE adaptive headlight on ebay for like $255.
Installed it and all worked ok with no adaptive light errors.
Since now one headlight looked new and another one old, i got the other side headlight from the same guy to make it all new looking. Unfortunately, he has no more left.
hopefully the controller is ok,
good luck

I have the same exact problem. Since it is a appears to be problem with aging, buying a use one probably does not last long either.
I have a plan to either rewire or shrink wrap individually. In order to do so I need to open headlight assembly.
I can not find a procedure to do so in this forum, some guy said he cooked in oven but did not say that how long at what temperature? I do not want to over cook them.
How do you remove 3 screws that hold body and lends cover? I can reach 2 of them with long shaft torx screwdriver but can not find a access to one on the top.

any help? i will write up "how to's", when i done.

thanks,

-tishi

Default Headlights

I just bought new pairs from a dealer in Germany. 1/2 price comparing to NZ.
Easier way of pulling unit out is on Youtube. They cut the unit open instead of heating up in the oven.

Don't remember exact Youtube page but easy to find.

All the best wishes

Eugene

As mentioned, most probable cause is busted stupid (guaranteed to fail) wire. Search Quattroworld C6 forum for my post (airbil) for pics. You "may" be able to repair the wire/s via dremeling an opening in the the bottom of the housing.
I found a like new assembly on eBay for $350 & went that route.
Some of the zip ties in the housings should be cut to allow more wire flex and less wire breaking.

I recently had to replace the DRL bulb and when I removed the connector I noticed that most of the insulation on the DRL wires was dried out, brittle and cracking. I carefully wrapped all of the cracked insulation with electrical tape hoping it will hold. I suspect that the motor wires and the HID bulb wires are suffering the same degradation, probably due to the heat inside of the assembly.

holy crap.

I'm looking through these threads now since my Indie tech said my passenger side high beam shutter isn't working right. I'm going to give this a go myself this weekend. Should be fun!

I have following code in vagcom:

1 Fault Found:
02627 - Dynamic Cornering Light Motor; Left (V318)
010 -- Open or Short to Plus - MIL ON
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 11101010
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 206
Mileage: 132408 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2013.12.03
Time: 01:01:48

Also my headlights have become super foggy. I have 2007 A6 3.2 quattro.
Anybody knows aftermarket headlights that can work with my car ? I do see some uncovered small wires going into the headlight but I am hesitant to touch them without a proper plan. Any suggestions ?

I fixed this last night! it is pretty hard though. you need to remove the headlights and for sure you will see a wire broken. well you will need to fix that!
