Airbag
#11
Well last summer, my son sit on the rear seat on the middle and after that I have the air bag light on. I did my homework and find about the sensor in that seat that could be activate with the weight of an adult. My son is almost big as me so... I scan the car and that why I know how to find what wrong with the srs system. My father in law have a beetle and he got the same light. I scan his car to find it was the driver buckle sensor that was bad. About the yellow wire, last winter and last summer, I had water problem so I took all the seats out of the car to remove the entire carpet to dry everything. In all the seat we have sensor or airbag. In the bentley manual they talk about the yellow wire and all the protection you must take to avoid injury or damage. In my line of work, I often work with car that have been in an accident. And in my experience even only unpluging the battery isn't enough. An airbag is only safe when you remove the igniter from it. But as I told you don't worry just take precaution and everything will be find. Keep us in touch with the outcome.

I had this same issue a few years back. I would reset and it would come back a short time later. The problem in my case was just a bad connection to the clockspring. I removed the covers on the steering column and unplugged, re-plugged all the connectors. No more light. I do get the common rear center seat airbag light when someone sits back there. It's rare that someone does and I just vag it off.
