Default C6 parking brake control module location

I have a parking brake malfunction on my '06 C6.
As I'm diagnosing it, I'll need to know where the control module is for the parking brake.
I have an electrical fault code up, & will have to find out if it's in the module itself, or the wiring. That shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
But, 1st, I have to locate that control module.

Thx.
While I haven't had overwhelming success with the forum's search function, it has aided me more than a few times.
This instance was one where I was less successful in getting clear info.
I'm still trying to find a definitive answer on where that particular module is.
Hopefully, it won't be like finding the second cabin air filter.
We'll see.

It's a pretty straight-forward search for the part, but here's the steps straight from the manual:

Electromechanical Parking Brake Control Module -J540-

Special tools and workshop equipment required:

♦ Torque Wrench -V.A.G 1410-

Removing

– Remove right rear side trim in luggage compartment ⇒ Rep. Gr. 70

– Remove nuts -1-, tightening specification 10 Nm

– Remove Electromechanical Parking Brake Control Module - J540- with plug connector -2-.

– Pull locking slide -a- in direction of -arrow b- and remove connector.

BTW, the second cabin air filter...Isn't that the one that sits directly above the first one?

That covers it &, yes, the second cabin filter is right above the first one.

Well, I picked up another control module.
VCDS let me know that there are no bus faults, using the Optical Bus Diagnostics application.
Now, I have to figure out how to "adapt" the new module onto my car & have it correctly position the parking brake motors.

I picked up a good used parking brake module on CL. I installed it & set it up using the directions off of Ross Wiki.
Everything is fine with the parking brake now.
I still say that there is no reasonable way to maintain one of these without vcds, Bentley, ELSA & this forum!

Yeah. It ticks me off when pundits imply the opposite. Pat Goss was one. He actually wrote, "There isn’t anything a scanner can do that you couldn’t do with a high-end graphing DVOM if you knew how to perform the tests, had the specifications and had a wiring diagram." https://www.quora.com/These-days-you...nswer/Pat-Goss He apparently didn't ever realize in his whole lifetime of being a tv mechanic star that you ever need to code any modules of a car. That's what his sentences like, "Once we look at the datastream on our canners and look at the codes we usually find ourselves breaking out the DVOM to find the cause of the problem." imply. To him, repairing cars was only a question of replacing parts. Nothing more. Nothing less. Even an oil change, the most basic service there is, requires using a scan tool to reset the service indicator. It's really curious to me.

Here's another lovely pundit implying you don't need a scan tool.

Seems almost as if the more authority the person has, the less likely what they say is true, opposite of what is logical.
