Default Can an auto gearbox oil be changed C6.5?

Hi guys... I wonder if anyone could get me some advice.
I've got a 2010 C6.5 Le Man's Quattro with the steering wheel paddle shift.
I bought the car last month with 65k miles on the clock. But after looking at the service history there wasn't anything saying that the gearbox oil was changed throughout the history.
So after speaking to a friend who has a Auto A4 B8,he told me he takes it to the dealers and let them change it every 30k miles. But recently I read online and some people say it doesn't require to be changed cause it's a sealed unit. So can someone point me in the right direction on what to do.

It is now recommended that the Tiptronic auto fluid (yours) is changed every 60k
Multitronic every 38k
Take it to audi dealer to get it changed.

The maintenance schedule says that the fluid should be lifetime. However in reading a bit, it seems that many do find value in changing it.

Thanks for everyone's help.
I spoke to the previous owner and he said the gearbox oil was changed 3000 miles a go from his local garage.

But its annoying me incase they've not used genuine audi oil etc. So I called up Audi and they said the boxes are sealed for life and if I wanted the oil to be changed its possible at a cost of £350.

So shall I just get it done? Or take to a Audi specialist to see if I could get it cheaper? What do you guys think?

£350 is not too expensive for your peace of mind.
If you don't get it done and something goes wrong !!!!!!
I get mine done every 30k, but mine is a multitronic auto.
When you change the ATF you are also getting rid of all those particles of metal that are floating around causing more wear and clogging up the small channels.
If I were you, I WOULD get it done.

seems like we have these discussions endlessly.
Audi is giving you a marketing answer.
yes, it's lifetime to them, considering that many owners do not keep their cars long enough for them to ever worry about it, and in most case, even under abuse the trans will not catastrophically fail prior to 6yrs and 100k miles/160k km. if you never have to service it then wow, they must be doing a really good job of making cars that are maintenance free.
ok, not bashing you, you seem to want to do the right thing.
what do you get for £350?
just a 4 liter drain and fill? might want to have the pan dropped, the filter replaced and the magnets cleaned. you'll get an extra liter(ish) of old fluid out as well this way.
I paid $239.45 here in the states for a kit with 6L of LG8 genuine ZF fluid, the filter and the various gaskets and o-rings.
my labor was free.

I can't thank yous guys enough.

Okay going to phone up Audi tomorrow and get the car booked in.
What's annoying me is everytime I drive it if feel like I can feel every gear change, expecially from 1st to 2nd. Don't really know if it's meant to be like that as it's my first automatic car.

So fingers crossed everything is all okay.
So shall I tell them to take the pan off and change the filter as well? Or just call them up and ask for a gearbox oil change?

As you don't know the history of the car, for peace of mind have a full service.
Don't forget the brake fluid which should be changed every two years.
I also change my power steering fluid every 30k miles and engine coolant every five years.
Engine oil & filter no more than 10k miles.

Audi oil is expensive (maybe 200GBP).

The good news: there is a lot of chatter on these forums about compatibility of the fluids and apparently they should be more or less compatible. If local garage did it - they must have thought about it.
The bad news: there is two different procedures. One to "replace oil" and another is to flush out all oil from the system and completly replace it with the new one.
The transmission keeps oil in various chanels and clutches and the "oil replacement" only replaced a part of it. To flush everything out they will have to refill it like 4 times. So the cost will increase significantly since as I said, the price of oil itself is the major contributor.

Why you not talk to the mechanic who replaced it in the first place and figure out what was the fluid.
