Default catch can

was reading kids talking A3 mods. They mentioned catch-can to remove oil from PCV. Would it help with eliminating oil in intake and anything related to the carbon build up on the valves?

In theory sounds great, if you could find a way of fitting one without upsetting the emissions and setting off fault codes.

The 3.2 has a built in Cyclonic oil separator in the valley under the intake manifold. In theory this should work better than a simple catch can. If you get this installed please let us know how much oil it catches.

I wasn't aware there was a cyclonic catch on the 3.2. But I can confirm that the 4.2 FSI in the B7 RS4 has one. I have toyed with the idea of trying to adapting this to my non FSI 4.2 C6 A6.

Things to think about...
Adding a catch can could be a smart move but I'm "guessing" to keep from throwing codes it would mean taking time to determine the maximum air flow rate of the can in question. Logically it would have to be equal but preferably higher than the air flow rate through the PCV system of the engine you want to use it for. So some cheap universal Ebay can would have to be bench tested before choosing it. A reputable tuner making catch cans would be a better choice but I would ask for its flow specs. They should be able to answer such questions about their product. If they can't or won't I'd wonder why. Lastly, the cyclonic catch on the RS4 directs the oil back to the crankcase. So some oil loss will occur with a can.
