Does my car have a reverse camera module?
Hey guys! I have a 2005 A6 4.2 Quattro S-Line and I want to add a reverse camera. I found a reverse camera that replaces the stock trunk lid handle. 8' just curious what I would need to do to install it and have the reverse camera work with my screen on the dash. I currently have Nav, XM installed.
Here's a picture of the reverse camera set up:

I installed the Audi OEM rear camera in my 2010 Audi A6 - here's the write-up: Coding Rear View Camera
It's moderately hard. The problem with the camera in your picture is that the output in RCA - it's not a direct plug into the MMI unit in the dash. I did a lot of research and concluded that for that kind of camera, you need a separate LCD screen on the dash. I could be wrong - I do know that the plugs for the Audi camera are different and that plug wasn't going to plug directly into the Audi MMI. The 2005 might of been different though.
In this picture below, you can see the silver box, that's the Audi Camera Control. The Audi camera plugs into that, the box does something to the signal, then the wiring hardness carries the camera signal to the MMI in the front:

The back up camera was not even available as an option on the 2005. As a result, it probably does not have the module and you will probably have to install all of the necessary hardware.

Agree with Kevin. Your Audi needs to swap hw with a 2008+ model to even be capable of having a backup camera work through your mmi display.

Essentially the same steps involved as the following: http://www.dognmonkey.com/audi/a8-d3...-retrofit.html
